Water flows out of this cave at the base of Mt. Gilboa, forming a small stream that flows northwards towards the Valley of Harod. Here Gideon reduced his army from 10,000 men to 300 by selecting those who lapped water from their hands (Judg 7:3-7). The spring was in sight of the Midianite invaders who were camped in the valley.
