Description:
Azekah was located 15 miles southwest of Jerusalem at the western end
of the Valley of Elah. (Viewed to the west from Socoh) The Philistines
camped between these towns as they faced Saul's army (Josh 10; 1 Sam 17).

at the western end of the valley. Following David's killing of the giant
from Gath, the retreating Philistines would have passed through the valley
(right center) in front of Azekah as they returned to Gath, five miles
to the west.

Description:
The city of Azekah, situated on this hill, lay seven miles to the northeast
of Lachish. In 588 B.C., as Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was sweeping through
the land, guards used fire signals to relay messages between the two cities.
