A city of Judah, Adullam was located just south of the Valley of Elah. Escaping from Saul, David occupied a large cave here, joined by his family and friends (1 Sam 22:1,2).

Hill where the city of Adullam is located. On the side of this hill is the cave where it is believed that David hid when he was running from King Saul (1 Sam 22:1). It is likely that David wrote Psalm 57 from this cave. Beyond this hill lies the Valley of Elah where David killed Goliath.
